Many issues can affect a child’s safety today more than ever. It
may be witnessing a difficult divorce, risk of child predators,
bullies at school, exposure to drugs or alcohol, and many more.
Connecticut Kids First was formed to be a resource for parents who feel the system or the courts have let them down, or they feel their children are at risk for some reason. Often, fighting the “system” can leave one especially frustrated, broke, and wanting to give up. The procedures for example on divorce here in Connecticut and elsewhere are in need of much revision. The current process is emotionally and financially draining, leaving all worse off afterwards. If you need help, please join our group, and together we can effect changes to help our kids. We are particularly focused on protecting children at risk when there is a potential for substance abuse. Right now, we have a bill pending before the State Legislature introduced by Rep. Al Adinolfi (R) at our suggestion, which would make it a felony to drive under the influence with a child in the car. MADD has kindly supported us on this legislation. This bill is modeled after New York’s “Leandrea’s Law”, named after 11 year old Leandrea Rosado, who died at the hands of a drunk driver. We have the full support of Leandrea’s father, Lenny Rosado on the present bill. HB06589: AN ACT INCREASING THE PENALTIES FOR DRUNKEN DRIVING WHEN A CHILD IS A PASSENGER OR WHEN SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH OF A CHILD RESULTS. WE ARE INTERESTED IN ANY ISSUES THAT PROMOTE THE SAFETY, WELFARE AND EDUCATION OF CHILDREN Email Us Now And Take Action
